How We Source Teas

At MAAT Living, our commitment to harmony between nature and people is at the core of everything we do, especially in sourcing the finest teas. We meticulously seek out the purest organic tea leaves available on the market, while upholding and supporting traditional farming practices in vibrant, tea-growing regions across the globe.

Tea’s origins date back to 2737 BC, when, according to legend, Chinese Emperor Shennong discovered tea by accident as leaves from a nearby tree fell into his hot water. Intrigued by its altered color and taste, he took a sip and discovered both its delightful flavor and healing properties. This marked the beginning of tea’s long, storied history.

Inspired by these ancient traditions, our journey to find the most authentic blends began in Asia, where some of the oldest tea trees are still cultivated organically. Many of our tea sources are located in remote regions, reachable only by local farmers who have preserved their harvesting techniques for generations. Our partnerships not only ensure the highest quality tea but also contribute to the economic sustainability of these local communities, allowing ancient farming traditions to thrive.

As MAAT Living has grown, so has our network of trusted suppliers. We’ve expanded our sourcing into regions like Kenya and Colombia, where we continue to prioritize small-scale farming practices and foster economic growth in local villages.

We take pride in the exceptional quality of our teas and remain dedicated to discovering new, innovative blends while maintaining our strong ethical sourcing standards.
